Patient Privacy Concerns, PKI and Secure Email. Policy for any Medical Practice must be that no patient data (any patient information) may be transferred via email unless it is encrypted.
It is inevitable that someone, somewhere will have their privacy breached. Try to avoid it being your practice on “Today Tonight” by establishing good policy and practices. Automate secure email sending to minimize human errors. At the end of the day, almost anything has to be more secure than the currently common method of faxing patient medical records.
Encrypted and digitally signed email is more secure than post, as fast as fax, and effectively free.
